Flander's Lane, Washington Maine

Flander's Lane is named after my grandfather, Roland Flanders. It is a short dirt road with a few camps set on Washington Pond. There are tales that Flander's Lane is haunted. At least that's what my grandfather says.

So it's about 30 or so days before we take off on our trip east, and instead of working on something important, I set up this blog. Ta-da! I sit and look at all the stuff packed into every nook and cranny of this place, and I wonder... what is going to happen to it all in the next few weeks?

There is a strange futility once plane tickets are bought, I feel like getting on with it, and cannot start any project now that I'm leaving. All focus is on the move.

Me, my wife, and our 2 1/2 year old are flying to Maine for the summer. Then the plan is to organize a trip to Europe from there. Travel for a while, see how it goes.

Right now we live in a most beautiful place on the lagoon in sunny Alameda California. It's hard to leave, but we have talked about wanting to see more of the world too many times. We sit night after night knowing there is adventure out there for us, and now we are going to get up, put on our shoes, and go find it.

Bank stuff, forwarding of mail, business stuff, our child all require a lot of thought into what we have to prepare to do this right.

The adventure has begun as soon as I feel the excitement in my chest. So, it has begun.

Early Bird

I've been getting up around 8am - 9 am lately. I'm usually an all night creep, but now the wee one wears me out that I go to bed at 11pm, that is if the kid is sleeping. Then, in the morning it happens. I wake up. Around 2pm I realize I can still get some stuff done, that it's not 5pm. I'm not used to it.
